What Are You Reading?
  • Coach Shaun Morrison

Coach Shaun Morrison, a Winthrop intern working with Coach McDonald, is reading "The Island" by Gary Paulson.  It is about a boy named Wil Neuton who moves away from his hometown, leaving all of his friends behind. When he finds the island, he discovers comfort in the solitude the island gives. The island presents an opportunity to escape the problems that his parents present him. Learning to study himself and his surroundings on the island, Wil begins to understand life. Coach Morrison enjoys this book because of the vivid imagery Gary Paulsen uses, making it seem as if the book is real life.  He recommends this book to anyone who enjoys the outdoors and a sense of adventure.

From the Principal

Welcome to Great Falls Elementary…Where we are Stars of excellence….determined to shine!  We are proud of the achievements that have already been made at Great Falls Elementary!  As we begin this year, we are excited about the potential of success that lies ahead. We look forward to working together to ensure continued improvement.

Great Falls Elementary is comprised of a highly qualified, dedicated, and caring faculty and staff; and we believe in high expectations for all of our students. There are numerous opportunities for student to develop artistic, social, emotional, physical, leadership and citizenship skills. We will not be satisfied until successful academically and socially!

Research indicates that children whose parents are involved in their education are five times more likely to be successful in school. You make an impact! I invite you to be in constant communication with your childs teacher. Consistent communication between home and school is essential to promote the best interest of your child(ren). Please feel free to contact your child's teacher or administration with any concerns or compliments you may have. Other ways of involvement include becoming a member of the PTO, SIC, and/or a school volunteer. I would like to encourage you to visit our website often for updates and important school related information. We have created this in hopes of bridging the gaps in communication between school and home. We look forward to becoming even better as we stand together to provide the best educational experience possible
